About Goodwilly

Giving, lending, passing on

Last updated August 13, 2026

Goodwilly is an independent publication about giving & donating and everything next to it. It exists because the useful version of this subject is usually the one nobody has time to write.

Everything we publish tries to be generous but hard-headed, interested in what actually helps, which mostly means saying what we actually think and showing the reasoning.

What we cover

The site is organised into 6 sections:

  • Giving & Donating — Where money goes, what to give, and giving in a way that actually helps.
  • Volunteering — Time as a donation, and the roles organisations genuinely need filled.
  • Secondhand & Thrift — Buying used well, what holds value, and where the good stuff goes.
  • How Charities Work — Overheads, accounts, ratings and reading an annual report honestly.
  • Community Projects — Small local efforts, how they start, and why some of them last.
  • Repair & Reuse — Mending, lending libraries and keeping things out of the skip.

Who writes it

Every article carries a named writer with a profile page, and nothing is published anonymously. You can see the full list on our writers page.

How it is funded

Goodwilly is funded by advertising. Advertisers have no sight of, and no influence over, what we publish — the wall between the two is described in full in our editorial policy.

Who publishes it

Goodwilly is published by Passing On Press, a sole proprietorship of Vivek Saxena.
